Follow The Breadcrumbs

Hi,

By the time you’re reading this, I’ll have just arrived in Paris to begin the next leg of my adventure.

We started in San Miguel de Allende. Then came Juno Beach. And now we’re off to Paris, then Toulouse, France, where I’ll be speaking at an international women’s entrepreneurship event on the power of reinvention and why midlife is the main stage.

From there, I’ll be traveling through the French countryside before heading to Barcelona.

And I’m going to take you along for the ride.

But do you want to know how I got here?

I followed the breadcrumbs.

Let me explain.

It started with intuitive guidance that said:

You’ve outgrown your home.

And I listened.

I’ve learned to trust my intuition so implicitly that I let it guide me. I no longer need certainty. I no longer need to know the full picture.

Because at 48 years old, I’ve realized that the gift in life isn’t having it all figured out.

The gift is not knowing.

That’s the fun of it.

It’s like kids on Christmas morning. You don’t know what you’re going to get, so every present is a surprise. Sometimes you’re hoping the next one will be that thing you really wanted. But along the way, you get to enjoy all the gifts that come.

Life is no different.

And if you take nothing else from today’s letter, let it be this:

Be present for the journey.

Love the next step.

And be awake enough to notice the guidance you’re receiving every day.

Because it’s there.

All the time.

So let’s get into the story.

I’ll give you the abridged version, although we both know these private letters can get a little lengthy.

First, I heard:

You’ve outgrown your home.

I didn’t know where I was supposed to go, and I didn’t know what that would look like.

I’ve actually never not had a home before.

Even when I’ve traveled. Even when I lived in Bali. Even when I lived in Italy.

I’ve always had a home base.

So this was different.

And it required a tremendous amount of faith.

Then I just knew I was supposed to go to Mexico. Specifically, San Miguel de Allende.

From there?

I had no idea where I was going next.

Again, this was new for me.

I’ve never lived with so little of a plan.

But I kept hearing:

Don’t have a home. Don’t have a plan. Be open to what we’re going to give you along the way.

So I listened.

One night, I was at dinner with a friend, and she mentioned an event in Toulouse, France.

Immediately, I thought:

Interesting.

I had just been asking myself where I was supposed to go next.

And suddenly, there was a breadcrumb.

The old version of me would have ignored it.

She would have talked herself out of it.

She might not have even recognized it as an invitation.

But this version of me?

I listened.

I took the guidance.

And I thought:

That sounds fun. Let me look at that.

I didn’t make a plan that day.

I didn’t map out the next six months of my life.

I didn’t ask myself what it all meant.

I didn’t put pressure on the decision.

I simply got curious.

And often, that’s all intuition wants from us.

It wants us to be open enough to hear it.

Receptive enough to receive it.

And curious enough to act on it.

So I did.

And what unfolded from there became this beautiful, unexpected adventure.

“You do not need the entire path. You only need the next step.”

Not only did it align perfectly with a friend who wanted to travel, but it also led to an opportunity to share my message internationally with a room full of women who are exactly who I love serving.

And that’s only the beginning.

There is so much more I’ll share in next week’s letter.

But here’s what I want you to understand:

If you’re waiting for a giant breakthrough…

A massive divine download…

A crystal-clear vision…

Or some magical moment where all the answers suddenly appear…

You’re missing it.

That’s not how it works.

Especially in midlife.

You do not need the entire path.

You only need the next step.

Follow the breadcrumbs.

Because they’re being given to you all the time.

The problem is that most people are looking for the big miracle, the big message, the giant sign.

And while they’re looking for something dramatic, they miss the actual invitation.

The invitation is usually much quieter.

A conversation.

An idea.

A nudge.

A random thought.

A feeling that won’t leave you alone.

A dinner with a friend.

A mention of an event in France.

A breadcrumb.

That’s how life unfolds.

One breadcrumb at a time.

So this week, I want to invite you to pay attention.

What breadcrumbs are showing up for you right now?

What invitation keeps presenting itself?

And more importantly:

What would happen if you trusted it?

I’d love for you to hit reply and share your breadcrumbs with me.

Tell me what you’ve been noticing.

Tell me what you’ve acted on.

And let’s continue this journey of going higher, trusting ourselves more deeply, and creating a bigger, bolder, more extraordinary life together.

Rewrite the Rules,

Melissa Kathryn
