Identity Anchor
Hi,
I did something I’d always wanted to do.
When I decided to travel the world this year and let go of my home in Florida, I made one decision that has changed everything.
I handed the planning over to God.
I simply said,
Guide me.
I’ll follow.
I no longer needed certainty. I wanted intuitive guidance. I wanted presence.
And I’ve watched the most extraordinary experiences unfold because of it.
One of those moments happened in Paris.
I had been invited to speak at an event in Toulouse, France, but before the event I kept receiving the same quiet nudge.
Go to Paris.
I’d already been there twice, so I wasn’t entirely sure why. But by now I’ve learned that I don’t need to understand the guidance before I follow it.
I simply trust it.
I shared in a previous Bold Life Letter what happened during that trip and the message I received from my mom while I was there.
It remains one of the most profound experiences of my life.
But there was another moment in Paris that completely surprised me.
Before I left, I asked myself a simple question.
What could I do to anchor this next version of me?
I assumed the answer would be something ordinary.
Maybe I’d buy a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Maybe I’d bring home a keepsake.
Instead…
I received a completely unexpected answer.
Create your own perfume.
I never would have thought of that on my own.
Left to my logical mind, I probably would have bought something beautiful, taken a few photos, and called it a day.
Instead, intuition led me somewhere far more meaningful.
I walked into the most beautiful perfume atelier and spent the afternoon creating a fragrance that represented the woman I am becoming.
Every note was chosen intentionally.
Every ingredient became part of a memory.
Every decision was infused with love.
But here’s what made it so much more than perfume.
It became an identity anchor.
Every time I spray this fragrance, I’m transported back to that version of myself walking through Paris.
Every time I wear it, I remind myself,
She’s already here.
This next level isn’t somewhere in the future.
It already exists within me.
Every spray becomes a ritual.
Every ritual becomes another opportunity to reinforce the woman I am choosing to become.
It’s locked into my consciousness.
My DNA.
My spirit.
These are the kinds of practices I teach inside Limitless, Reinvention, and Ascension.
Not because they’re complicated.
But because they’re powerful.
I believe life itself is constantly offering us opportunities to create meaning.
To use symbols.
To use rituals.
To use everyday moments as reminders of who we’re becoming.
That’s where the magic lives.
Had I not listened to my intuition, I probably never would have gone back to Paris.
Had I not listened, I certainly never would have created my own perfume.
And I would have missed an experience that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
Now, every morning when I spray that fragrance, I smile.
Not because I’m wearing perfume.
Because I’m reminding myself who I am.
You don’t have to go to Paris to do this.
You don’t have to create your own fragrance.
You could do it with a lipstick.
A journal.
A pair of heels.
A bracelet.
Your favorite coffee mug.
Even the way you wash your face every morning.
You can turn every doorway into a portal.
Every routine can become a ritual.
Every object can become an identity anchor.
Because it’s never really about the object.
It’s about the meaning you give it.
Your intentions shape your experience.
Your beliefs shape your reality.
From a neuroscience perspective, you’re creating what psychologists call an anchor—an intentional action that teaches your subconscious,
This is who I am now.
These are the subtle ways I romanticize my life.
Upgrade my energy.
Elevate my frequency.
Strengthen my identity.
And, in doing so, create a reality that feels more magical than anything I could have planned on my own.
I left Paris with a bottle of perfume.
But what I really brought home…
was evidence.
Evidence that when I listen, life becomes infinitely more beautiful than anything my logical mind could have orchestrated.
So this week, I want to leave you with one question.
What could become your identity anchor?
Sit quietly.
Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Ask your higher self,
“What symbol could remind me of the woman I’m becoming?”
Then trust whatever comes.
It may seem small.
But sometimes the smallest rituals become the biggest transformations.
Rewrite the Rules,
Melissa Kathryn
