Hi,
I’m on one of my God walks, walking the coast of Jupiter Beach.
It is a gray day today. It’s been raining on and off.
And as I look to the right, there’s a stormy ocean. Instead of placid, calm seas, there are rolling waves.
And I’m reminded of my friend Christina—you might know her as my shaman—who left me a message today.
As I shared, my father picked me up from the airport with roses. And she reminded me, in her message:
“Don’t forget, my dear friend, the word to savor. Savor every moment.”
And that brought me right back to her… and to my time here.
In midlife, now more than ever, it is so important to live life intentionally.
Because as Anne Hathaway so eloquently shared when she turned 40, she realized she had been living her life like it was a dress rehearsal—when it’s really showtime.
And that changed everything for her.
She began to shift her identity… how she wanted to live, the role she wanted to take on, what she wanted to do, and how she approached her life.
And that’s my invitation to you—and to myself—as I write you this week’s private letter:
Savor.
Savor the moments.
Savor your children.
Savor your parents, if they’re with you.
Savor your partner.
Savor your time with God.
Savor every moment as if it were the last—and give it every ounce of your presence.
That is my intention for this month of May.
Being with my father—and after no longer having my mother—I realize just how precious these moments are.
And that’s what I want to share with you today.
In my travels, no matter where I am—Florida, the gym, France, Mexico, wherever I go—
It’s not about the destination as much as it is about the intention… and the people within it.
The moments.
And it’s not just the moments with others—
It’s the moments with yourself.
At a time when life is moving so fast—when everything feels like it’s happening at lightning speed—
If you’re reading this, you are an awakened woman.
And we must be present with ourselves.
We must allow ourselves to savor.
To delight in putting on our makeup.
To savor a hot bath.
To enjoy drinking lemon water.
To be fully present on a walk.
Savor.
How can you savor more starting today?
Even this moment—reading these words—
Can you take it in as an indulgence?
As a joy?
As a gift?
Because that is the true gift of life.
It’s not what we’re searching for.
It’s what’s right in front of us.
Often, it’s what’s already here—waiting for us to notice it.
And if this message spoke to you, share it with someone you love.
Let them know you appreciate them.
All my love,
rewrite the rules,
Melissa Kathryn
P.S. Live intentionally.
