I often hear clients share “Melissa, I do love myself, but not my body”.
I respond with …”This is not possible. You cannot truly love yourself AND not like your body.”
You are one in the same. You are one being. You can’t view your body in shame to only accept and admire other pieces of you.
Think about it. Are you only going to love pieces of your children, family or friends?
In order to have lasting weight loss and see the scale go down, you need to love all of you.
Lady love, this is the very disconnect that leads you to thinking “I’m doing everything right, I don’t understand why the weight is not coming off…”
Your weight responds to your thoughts.
In order to lose weight, you need to be connected to hear what is going on inside. You need to know the foods you’re craving and what your body needs throughout the day.
Frequently women get disconnected when they’ve experienced childbirth, yo-yo dieting, illness, or weight issues at any age.
I spoke last night in NYC about Optimal Health and a big piece of achieving optimal health, aging backwards, experiencing FAT loss, not weight loss (there’s a huge difference, I’ll share with you next week) is around being connected to your body.
Are you connected to your body?
If you don’t know, here are a few simple questions to find out:
Do you know when you are hungry?
Do you know when you are full (before you feel overly stuffed)?
Do you recognize when you’re getting sick?
Do you know when you eat something that doesn’t agree with you and you can identify what that is?
Do you know what movements your body enjoys?
Do you look at yourself and your body naked without negative thoughts daily?
If you aren’t connected, start taking action on the above items and check in with yourself. Start to get to know you.
This is the art I teach my clients called “Dating Yourself”.
You have to know you, love you and accept you, in order to make you and anyone in your life happy.
Otherwise, you’re only showing up as a piece of you.
You deserve all of you as does everyone around you!
I’d love to know if this spoke to you. Do you feel connected or disconnected? Please share below.
